Ways the Broncos and their flexible QB could halt that Chiefs' dominance.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage features live text of the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season and following last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.
Striking during those contests was the amount of infractions each conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.
But it was positive to observe how Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have the shortfall before direct three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory by four points.
Denver have the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily sending extra defenders instead they might plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.
At the start of the season, it was noted on a program that the Broncos might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They ended the previous year strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has excelled big while new running back their rusher is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive how the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
That shows how the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in favourable down and distances.
This has helped QB the young passer, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw all over, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, which is different, and he's highly agile.
His strengths include his movement, being able to throw while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make throws when he rolls outside protection, on rollouts. He can deliver precision throws over the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great poise under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.
When you consistently rush it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to be in play for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense has to defend the area downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach during games at times and it seems Payton likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly build something up how he wants to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.
The head coach has won a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the success Denver are having on offence is largely down to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids shape him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they strong enough to go against an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in their division. All they need is is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do against the Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders before the Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.
It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they face since the Broncos {beat|def
