Triple Most Valuable Player Jokic sustains a 'devastating' knee injury.
Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic suffered a "heartbreaking" knee injury while the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 to the Heat.
Jokic sustained the injury late in the first half during an unintentional collision with team-mate Spencer Jones.
Jones landed on the footwear of Jokic, and he instantly fell to the ground grabbing his leg.
The star, who tops the NBA season in boards and dimes, had 21 points and eight dimes in the contest prior to sustaining the problem.
The player will have an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the issue.
"Instantly, he realized he was hurt," commented Nuggets coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone who suffers an injury, it's difficult, particularly a player as important as him. We'll find out more on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, currently, I am more concerned primarily about Jokic as a person and the frustration of facing an event like that."
