The latest Far Cry title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing chaos and madness with equal excitement, all while weaving gripping, politically driven stories. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose work have embodied all of those qualities.

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by introducing a new backdrop and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
