The President Invites Loved Ones of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House
President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Support
Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.
Honoring Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Government Revisions
Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy caused the government to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit the family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
