Stateside performer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died aged 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to reports.

"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a statement.

They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His work in movies are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
