Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
