Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
